Sidewalk paint

Last week the boys and I made sidewalk paint.   It was simple and they had lots of fun with it.   The best part is they weren't restricted on what they could paint since it washes away.   Brody decided to paint all my flowers and the tomatoes.  To make some all you need to do is mix 1/2 cup cornstarch, 1/2 cup water and some food coloring.   It's easiest to make in a jar or bottle that you can just shake it up.

Here are the boys painting.

My next project is sidewalk chalk.   I'm hoping to get it started tonight since it needs time to dry.

Sidwealk Chalk

I found a recipe for easy to make sidewalk chalk and thought I'd give it a try.

1 Cup plaster of paris
3/4 Cup Water
Tempra paint

*** This recipe will make enough to fill 5 of the small disposable cups.*** For me it was perfect since everything is color coded around here.

I decided to use powdered tempra paint instead of liquid just for fun.   I was surprised that making sidewalk chalk could be so easy!   Why haven't I tried this before?    The only thing I would do different is not use the plastic cups.  I think paper would be better to help draw out some of the moisture from the middle.  The boys are still complaining that the middles are wet.   Oh well.
